Text 13 May Relationship.

When it comes to production, it’s all about the relationship.  It seems like a growing trend for there to be this unspeakable tension between the pastor / band / worship leader, and the media team.

See the diagram below:

Now before you start jumping to conclusions, let me explain. A lot of times when I speak with different media teams from different churches, it seems there is always some type of “us/we” mentality.  THIS. IS. POISON.

If there is one thing that I value, it is the relationship and dynamics between the band and the media team at my church.  I believe this plays a crucial part to our services.  Here’s why:

1. We aren’t TEAMS, we’re a TEAM!

If the band is leading us into worship, then the media team is enabling that by allowing the people to hear the music, see the lyrics, and by providing more ways to interact during the service.  We go together.  Sure, the band can go unplugged, but for the sake of this argument we are keeping them wired.

2. We have the same vision.

I had a manager when I worked at Best Buy who always said a statement that is still on my mind, “One Team, One Dream.”  If we can’t work together as one team, then we can’t see the real vision.  And the vision we choose to seek after is the one that God has given our pastor.

3. Our actions (positive or negative) towards each other will cause a reaction to the people we are trying to reach.

If you choose to be divided, it will cause more harm for the people you are trying to reach for Jesus. It’s like this:

The human body has many parts, but the many parts make up one whole body. So it is with the body of Christ.

1 Corinthians 12:12 NLT

You must work together as the body of Christ.  To move separate from each other is to not be working in the body of Christ.

If you go to my church, I want you to know that I value the relationship we have.  Being able to serve alongside with you is a tremendous joy! You guys are some of the best people in this world!
